Fun at Boondocks - Meridian, ID

Boondocks is a great place to take the family for a fun afternoon. It's got food, games, and fun stuff to do.On the day my little brother got out of school, we decided that it would be nice to celebrate a little. I was actually at work when I got a call from my mom asking me if I had any plans for the day. I told her that I didn’t and she asked if I could stay with Jordan at Boondocks for a while. I thought, why not? So I got in my car to drive over there since my work is only a minute or two away from Boondocks, but decided that tennis shoes might be more comfortable than the fancier shoes I was wearing, although the fancier shoes did make me taller. I hurried home, grabbed my tennis shoes, and drove off to meet my mom and Jordan at Boondocks.

Boondocks is actually in Meridian, but it’s only five miles west of Boise. It only took me about ten to fifteen minutes to get there. Once I arrived, I found my mom and brother in the arcade games. My little brother held out a wristband for me to put on that would allow me to have unlimited everything (except for tokens, sadly, although it did include ten of them). I found out from my mom that these wristbands cost $24.99 each! It’s a bit more than we normally spend on entertainment, but not every day is the last day of school. I held out my right hand so he could wrap it around my wrist, and only after it was securely in place we realized that it was on the wrong wrist. Oh well, it didn’t seem to make any difference anyway.

The go-karts are quite popular at Boondocks. The line may be long, but it's well worth the wait.

My mom soon left, and Jordan and I began our afternoon of Boondocks fun. The first thing we wanted to go on was the go-karts. The line was moving kind of slow, so we decided to go in the double karts. Jordan wanted to drive. I decided that, since it was his special day, I’d let him. We strapped in and were off. I soon discovered that my little brother was a bit inattentive in his driving. Still, we managed to survive, and afterwards headed off to do some miniature golfing.

Here is the Tiki head. Don't miss unless you want to get wet!

There are two miniature golf courses at boondocks. They seemed about the same to me. We played three rounds, one on the first course and two on the second. The 18th hole on the second course looked rather popular. There was a small ramp, on top of which stood a large Tiki head. If you managed to get a hole in one, a huge flame spurted out of the top of the Tiki head. However, if you missed, it squirted you with water. The Tiki head must have been catching up when we were there because it squirted at us five or six times before it stopped. I dodged, but some passersby were not so lucky.

Bumper Boats are perfect for a quick cool down on a hot day.

Throughout the afternoon, we played laser tag and checked out the new go-carts on the Slick Track. The only activity we didn’t do was the bumper boats because the day was a bit chilly, and we wanted to be dry rather than wet. We ended up having 405 tickets after raiding the arcade games, so we checked out the prizes to see what we could get. My little brother wanted a lava lamp, which he purchased for 400 tickets, leaving 5 for me. I didn’t mind, so I chose to spend my five tickets on a little dinosaur that I now keep in my car. We didn’t leave until about 9:30 pm. I had a great time.

I must say, this lava lamp does look pretty neat. This is my little triceratops, worth five tickets. I have yet to give it a name.
