Garage Sales Galore - Boise, ID

I opened the purple and blue notebook that I had given Cami, my friend and former roommate, for Christmas and looked at the first address. We had decided to hit the garage sale on Saranac first since it was the closest, but our route was delightfully interrupted by a sign on the side of the road that mentioned a Field of Arts up ahead. This was quite exciting. We hadn’t been gone for five minutes and we had already found a jackpot! We turned off into the parking area and walked up a little path that led us to an open field. There must have been eight or nine large tents set up with different merchandise prepared under each one. I noticed a concessions stand at one end of the field, but wasn’t hungry because of my late breakfast.
We started wandering around, analyzing the different things up for sale. I saw wooden furniture, jewelry, bath stuff, and much more. Of course, my friend and I, being rather fond of sweet-scented lotions, found our way to the bath and body tent. We both bought some bath salts and bubble bath. I’d never smelled Mulberry scented bubble bath before. I have no idea what mulberry is, but it sure smells good! My little brother, Jordan, got bored and checked out the tents selling wood crafts. He looked pretty interested in the wooden pens that were hand carved, but we hadn’t brought enough money with us. After all, we had only planned on finding garage sales.
So, we grabbed our goods and headed back to the car. We decided to hit the Millcreek subdivision next. It was still quite close, and there was supposed to be an annual garage sale for the whole subdivision, according to craigslist.com. Sure enough, there were garage sales all over Millcreek. I was in garage sale heaven. We scoured over each garage sale that we could find looking for any fun or odd objects. I love shopping at garage sales because you never know exactly what you’ll find.
At one of the first garage sales we found, there were tons of stamps for sale. As I looked at the rubber stamps, I knew that I could leave without at least one of those rubber stamps. These stamps were the most adorable stamps I have ever seen. The ones with the mice were the best though. I didn’t think mice were cute when I saw one running around my dorm room, but on a stamp, they are irresistible. I ended up buying four stamps.
More garage sales brought more treasures into our hands. Cami found a nice round carrying case for only a dollar. I found a piece of luggage that matched a bigger one that I had at home. Jordan found a Playstation with three controllers for thirteen dollars. It was originally priced at fifteen, and I was hesitant to lend my little brother money for it, but then they lowered the price.
Four hours after we started, we returned home. I’m sure that if anyone had looked in the back of our car, they would have seen an interesting jumble of objects. Jordan said he had a headache from all of the music we played in the car, and to be honest, I had one as well, though it might have been from just being tired. We were satisfied, however, with our purchases and ready for a meal and a nap. Garage sales will never lose their sense of fun and mystery.
