Relaxing at Municipal Park

Looking for a nice place to sit and eat our lunch, we happened to drive by Municipal Park and, noticing that it was a nice peaceful place to eat with not that many people, we decided we’d eat there. It was a nice day out with not too many clouds and the breeze was nice for me, but for my fiancé, who didn’t feel that great, the wind was slightly colder and gave him chills.
We slowly ate our lunch while enjoying the time outdoors and in a peaceful environment. It was kind of cloudy but for the most part where the sun would have shone we had plenty of trees blocking it; and the wind wasn’t that horrible either while we ate. After we were done we decided to explore our surroundings.
The most prominent thing that stuck out the most was the playground that looked as if it were brand new. It had two creatures that kids could sit on one was what looked like a rhino and the other was a dinosaur. The playground was very appealing with its colors all bright and coordinated. Blue, yellow and red definitely go together very well. There were a few kids playing by it and having a great time.
The playground had wood chips that I would never be comfortable walking barefoot on or even falling on. The fear of splinters that I had when I was younger makes me weary of playing when they’re on the playground. When I was kid we had sand on our playground, the only problem with it was that it was a hassle to get out of shoes. I told my fiancé that it wasn’t fair that the playground when I was in elementary was only half the size as the playground at the park. My fiancé stated that it looked new, better, and improved because Boise had put a lot of effort into its parks before it became a big city and now kept plenty of maintenance on the parks, making them all pretty much seem new. With all the parks we had been to lately I had seen none that didn’t look modernized and kept up.
I was surprised to see that the playground sported some really nice swings. At first I didn’t even recognize them as swings because they were painted and didn’t have the appearance of the silver metal that was on all the other swings I had ever been on. Having the swings painted the same color, excluding the red, as the playground made it look way more appealing. I almost went over there and started to swing, but having just eaten it most likely wouldn’t have been a good idea. Though it did remind of a dream I had that had kids swinging on swings that were about a hundred feet off the ground and they’d jump off of the swing and be just fine. It was really a creepy dream, because I had never jumped off a swing, and now I don’t think I’d ever want to.
I had noticed while walking around that there were red brick/stone things all over the place. I told my fiancé that we should go check them out; he was hesitant because he knew what they were and thought they weren’t that impressive. Still, we walked over to one and I instantly realized that it was grill that had enabled the food to be grilled then the smoke to come out a chimney like area. The first one looked like it wasn’t really kept up and was slightly falling apart, so to compensate some grills had been placed above were a person would normally grill their food. We looked at another one that was better than the last but still used the grills.
As we walked back to the car we walked through the grass and since we were wearing flip flops the sort of long grass felt good on our feet. I noticed that some of the trees looked really old and withered and weird to look at; though most of the trees weren’t as bad. We noticed that though cars were passing by they were barely noticeable as if they were totally cut off from the whole park. It was nice to be able to be in an area of peace and quite if only for a little while.
