A Hypothetical Night out with Gone with the Wind - Boise

Sometimes plans don’t turn out quite like a person would want them to; but in the end sort of turn out for the better. Such as last Wednesday; it started out with an article written that stated that the Idaho Statesmen would be giving out tickets to people who sent in a correct answer to ‘”Gone with the Wind” was the first broadcast for which cable television station?’ to see Gone with the Wind. To give the benefit of the doubt, I suppose that all articles are true and have all the correct sources. The Idaho Statesmen on the other hand threw us for a loop. They had stated in their article that Gone with the Wind would be showing at the Edwards Stadium 9. We instantly put the address into Google Maps and were giving nice simple directions. In the end we should have printed out a map but I don’t think it would have mattered in the long run…
Andrew decided we’d go to “TCBY” for a treat before the movies.
While we ate our wonderfully flavored yogurt, I had an orange one with tiny gummy worms and Andrew just had vanilla. We ended up driving all over downtown Boise back and forth sometimes in the same places until we finally got fed up and decided it would be best to just stop at a Wendy’s and ask for directions. Most of the people there hadn’t heard of it and those that had told us to go to the Egyptian Theater. Andrew seemed to know where that was so we headed there in a hurry only to have to park in a parking garage with wonderful speed bumps that totally could have damaged Andrew’s Miata.
We walked down some stairs and across a couple blocks only to find the doors to the theater were locked; which was weird because according to their hours they would still be open. They didn’t have the Gone with the Wind across their sign. Instead they had Mary Poppins from May 23-29 and Blade Runner May 30. They were instead showing the movie Red Belt instead of Gone with the Wind. We were very disappointed. I had desperately wanted to go see the movie on a huge screen. I had seen it several times before and actually own it, but for five dollars a ticket; less than a normal theater would ask for; it was or would have been a great deal.
We didn’t know what to do. The night seemed like it was ruined. But Andrew being the un-crushed reliable one; (seeing as he wasn’t as enthused as me about seeing the movie on the big screen) quickly and without much thought without telling me where we were going he drove us to the Reel Theater.
I was surprised to say the least. Now all we had to do was pick the movie. Unfortunately all the movies didn’t start till an hour later; so we had to figure out something to kill an hour. We ended up picking 10,000 BC, but it wasn’t till at least an hour. We discussed either going to the movies or going to PoJos. The debate lasted a good half hour until we decided enough was enough and went to Jack in the Box for a snack.
After that we went to the movie which was almost as amazing as Gone with the Wind; though Andrew was disappointed that it was so much like Apocalypto. But I couldn’t agree because I had never seen it. In all it wasn’t such a bad night it was even rather fun. So if you’re planning something fun don’t worry too much because there’s always something else that can be just as fun!
