Parade of Homes Adventure - Boise Idaho

Monday nights are great from 5-8 because the Parade of Homes is free on Mondays while it goes on. So my fiance’ and I took advantage of that offer and headed off. We didn’t really know where we were going but we did have the magazine that showed us where all the houses were located. To say the least we were pretty much in a hurry because he didn’t get home till 6:30.
We decided we would check out a cluster of houses by Eagle Rd. It took us a half hour just to find the first house because the directions in the magazine were kind of faulty. We thought we were close several times but had to turn around a lot until we actually found it which involved peaking into houses to see if there was any furniture or people around.
We walked into one house that we thought was the right one and didn’t see anybody. The guy was sitting on a chair in the living room. We looked around and saw a whole bunch of cool things. There were three intricate keys of different sizes on the wall near the front door that reminded me of antique keys we had hanging up at my old house.
The downstairs sported a nice patio outside. But the upstairs bedrooms were what caught my eyes. There was a bedroom pacifically made for a little boy with an airplane theme. The girl’s bedroom was an orange theme with a painting of a white tree with oranges hanging on it. The upstairs bathroom had an ornate tile design in the bathtub of flowers.
After we saw the upstairs we figured we’d go on to the next house. We drove around the block and where quite disappointed to find that the house looked nothing like the picture. It turned out that we were looking at the back of the house that had the garage on the side of the street where the front of the house was supposed to be.
We walked in and were instantly amazed. Parts of the front wall were cut out so a person can either place small objects or plants where the holes were. The kitchen sink and surrounding area were decked out in a dark green granite.
The dining area was set up in the most decadent manner with candles and a wonderful table with lots of room for a family of four or of five. The rest of the downstairs wasn’t much to look at though they did have real food laying around instead of fake food.
The upstairs is what caught my attention. The carpet leading up to it was green which is what drew me to it because green is my favorite color. At the top there was a poker table with Monster energy drinks and real poker chips. They were playing Ratatoule on a big screen with chips, bubble gum, liquorice, and pretzel sticks adorning the room and entertainment center. The black leather couch had pillows that looked like they had metal wires sticking out of them but really they were soft and squishy.
The first bedroom was set up for a teen-age girl. I really liked it liked it and wanted it as my own because of the way it was decorated with green, blue, and browns mixed in making it just the room for me. The baby room was my favorite. It used the same green, blue and brown theme as was around the entire house. It had blue yellow and green balls of paper that held lights in them that would be really cool to see lit up. The master bedroom had a huge walk in closet with room for everything. It even had a built in shoe rack.
We went outside to see the front of the house and were pleased to see it looked exactly like the picture in the magazine.
It had a gate with carefully planned out design for the lawn with a cement walk way that looked appealing with grass in between the blocks. In all we enjoyed the second house much better and would have gone to a third but fifteen minutes didn’t seem like enough time to totally get a good experience or enough ideas for our own dream home.
