Time dials and ducks at Ann Morrison Park

Making a special trip to the park never used to be a huge deal to me. But then again the only park I went to was a pathetic excuse for a park compared to Ann Morrison Park in Boise. Now I’ve seemingly changed. After being cooped up in the house for a whole week without getting out much it’s nice to go out; even to a park. That’s why the weekends are so great. My fiance fortunately has the weekends off!
Our adventure to Ann Morrison Park started out with a simple stroll. It was a beautiful day; not too hot and not too cold either. The view across the park was outstanding.
We could see the kids playing on the swings and various park equipment. But we decided to just stroll slowly down the pathway that had been set for us.
My favorite thing in the park was the green grass and the blooming trees. It was so refreshing to see everything alive instead of drab and dreary like in the winter. There where of course bikers and other people walking but we didn’t really take note of them; unless of course they were about to run us over then we were forced to move to the other side of the trail.
We strolled down to where the lake was and saw tons of ducks. We even saw a duck with one leg; sad but cool to see. Andrew quickly scared away the seagulls; who I guess are easily frightened. I was then regaled with a story about the time when Andrew was in high school he took a girl to the park and they fed them dry bread only to get bombarded by a swarm of ducks. Their only refuge was on the bridge over the lake.
The lake itself wasn’t very big and is probably not recommended for swimming, but it was nice to look at.
Next to the lake there was a huge grassy area where people can fly their kites. I’ve never flown one myself and personally I’d like to someday try.
We went over the bridge and ran into a funky looking thing in the middle of a large grassy area. It turned out to be a time dial that a person can read by pointing it in the direction the sun is at. We could tell the day and the time, though the day was a couple days off and the time was a couple minutes off; it was still a pretty neat thing to see.
After that we decided it was getting late so we headed back to the car that is after being attacked; sort of, by a couple of pit bulls who were friendly and soon left us alone. Which ended a perfectly uncanny day at Ann Morrison Park.

Oh my gosh! Never in my life did I think I’d write “interesting” and “fun” in the same sentence as “landfill”, but here I am. If I didn’t live 8 or more hours away, I’d seriously consider taking the tour! Thanks for the fantastic, unexpected thing to do!
Your welcome!! Like I stated in the artcile, I wasn’t too enthused when I first got the charter to go to the local “Dump!” lol. As it turned out it was quite and eye opener, and I learned a lot about how our state and local governments are thinking “Green.”
